How to Create and Organise a Project on Wallxy — Complete Step-by-Step Guide

Summary

Wallxy mathematically organises your entire project workspace before you upload a single drawing — saving hours of manual folder creation and keeping every team member working in the right place.

Unlike basic cloud storage apps that give you empty folders, Wallxy is a true architectural workspace. It builds your entire project folder structure — floor by floor, category by category — before you upload a single drawing.

Whether you are designing a standalone bungalow or a multi-tower residential society, Wallxy's three-step project wizard handles the setup in under five minutes.

Here is every step, every dropdown, and every button — explained in full.

Overview — The 3-Step Setup

STEP 1 STEP 2 STEP 3
Basic Details → Building Type → Configure
(Project info) (Single/Combined) (Floors + Categories)

You will see these three steps in the progress indicator at the top of the screen throughout the setup process.

🛑 STEP 1 — Basic Details

Click "Create Wallxy Project" from your left-hand sidebar menu. You will land on the Basic Details form — the foundation of your project workspace.

Fields to Fill In

Project Name
Enter the official title of your project. This appears on your main dashboard card and on all project documents.
Example: "Sable Palace Sangamner"

Project Category
Select the core discipline of the project from the dropdown.
Available options: Architecture · Interior · Landscape
(Options may vary based on your organisation's settings)

Project Type
A secondary dropdown to define the project sector.
Examples: Residential · Commercial · Industrial · Institutional

Project Sub-Type (if applicable)
For residential projects: 1BHK · 2BHK · 3BHK · 4BHK · 5BHK and above

Project Location
Enter the site address or city.
Example: "Nashik, Maharashtra"
This helps when your firm handles projects across multiple cities.

Project Budget
Select the estimated financial scale from the dropdown.
Examples: ₹50L–1Cr · ₹1Cr–5Cr · ₹5Cr+

Project Status

  • Upcoming — Project is in the design or planning phase

  • Ongoing — Site work has started

Project Owner Name (Optional)
Assign the client or project owner from your Wallxy connections. This links the owner to the project workspace.

Project Moderator (Optional)
Assign a lead architect or project manager from your team. This person gets administrative control over the project workspace.

Action Buttons

Button

What It Does

Save & Exit

Saves a draft project and takes you to the dashboard. Configure folders later.

Save & Next

Locks in your details and moves to Step 2.

Note: Only architects (Design & Planning role) see both buttons. Other roles see a single Create Wallxy Project button which creates and navigates directly.

🏗️ STEP 2 — Select Building Type

Wallxy asks you to define the physical scale of the project so it can build the correct folder architecture.

Option A — Single Building

What it means: One continuous structure with multiple floors.

Best for:

  • Standalone bungalows and independent residences

  • Single apartment towers

  • Individual commercial or office buildings

  • Standalone hospitals, schools, or institutions

Option B — Combined Building

What it means: Multiple distinct buildings grouped together on the same site.

Best for:

  • Multi-tower residential societies

  • Townships and gated communities

  • University and institutional campuses

  • Industrial parks and SEZs

  • Hospital complexes with multiple blocks

Action Button

Click the Continue button (purple gradient) to lock in your selection and move to Step 3.

Important: If you have already uploaded drawings or created tasks and want to switch building type, Wallxy will ask you to type DELETE to confirm. Switching building type permanently deletes all existing drawings and tasks for that project.

⚙️ STEP 3 — Configure

This is where Wallxy's intelligence shows. You are building your digital project folder structure to perfectly match the physical building.

SCENARIO A — Single Building Configuration

Select Drawing Categories

You will see a grid of category chips. Click each one that applies to your project. Wallxy creates a dedicated drawing folder for each selected category.

Available categories:

Conceptual Plans Elevations Sections
Details Furniture Interiors Structural
Electrical Plumbing Ceiling Fire
HVAC Utility Approval

You can also type into the "Add custom category..." box to add a category specific to your project — then click + to add it.

Select at least one category to proceed.

Floor Configuration

Set the exact number of floors in your building using the (−) and (+) buttons across four zones:

Zone

What It Covers

Basement

Underground floors (B1, B2, B3…)

Ground Floor

The entry-level floor

Upper Floors

Floors above ground (F1, F2, F3…)

Terrace

Rooftop / terrace level

Example configuration: 2 Basements · 1 Ground Floor · 4 Upper Floors · 1 Terrace

Floor Grouping — Typical Floors

Do multiple floors have identical layouts?

  1. Check the boxes next to the floors you want to group (e.g., Upper Floor 1, 2, and 3 have the same plan)

  2. Click Add Group

Now when you upload a drawing to that grouped floor, it automatically applies to all floors in the group — you upload once, it populates everywhere.

Action Button

Click the purple Complete Organise Project button at the bottom right.

Your organised project workspace is now live.

SCENARIO B — Combined Building Configuration

Because combined building projects are larger, the configuration happens in two layers: the Master Layout and the Individual Buildings.

Part 1 — Master Layout

The Master Layout covers drawings that apply to the entire site — not any one specific building.

Select Master Layout categories from the same category grid:

Conceptual Plans Elevations Sections
Details Furniture Interiors Structural
Electrical Plumbing Ceiling Fire
HVAC Utility Approval

Set Total Number of Buildings
Use the (−) and (+) buttons to tell Wallxy exactly how many separate buildings exist on the site.
Example: 2 buildings for a twin-tower society

Part 2 — Define Building Groups (Optional)

If some buildings have identical floor layouts, you can group them.

  1. Use the "Choose buildings" multi-select dropdown

  2. Select the buildings that share the same layout (e.g., Building 1 and Building 2)

  3. Click Add Building Group

The group appears in your Building Groups list. You upload one drawing and it applies to all buildings in the group.

Part 3 — Configure Each Building

Wallxy generates a separate configuration tab for each building.

For each building:

  1. Select the drawing categories required for that specific building

  2. Set the floor configuration (Basements, Ground, Upper Floors, Terrace)

  3. Add any typical floor groups within that building

  4. Click Save Building [N] Configuration

Each building can be configured completely differently — Building 1 might have 1 basement and 4 floors, while Building 2 has 0 basements and 8 floors.

Once all buildings are saved, the Complete Organise Project button activates. Click it.

Wallxy tracks your progress: "1 of 2 building groups configured" appears at the bottom right so you always know where you are.

🚀 STEP 4 — Inside Your Organised Dashboard

Congratulations — your project workspace is now live and mathematically structured. Here is what you will find.

1. Building Selector (Combined Projects Only)

A dropdown at the very top of the project screen shows the current building (e.g., "Building 1"). Click it to instantly switch between:

  • Master Layout

  • Building 1

  • Building 2

  • And so on

The entire dashboard shifts to show only the drawings relevant to the selected building.

2. Drawing Category Tabs

Under the Drawings section, you will see a clean scrollable row of chips — one for each category you selected during setup:

Conceptual Plans Elevations Sections Details ...

Click any category chip to jump to that category's drawing zone.

3. Floor-Specific Upload Zones

When you click a category, the screen shows dedicated upload zones stacked vertically — one for each floor you configured.

Conceptual Drawings
├── B1 (Basement 1) [+ Upload PDF]
├── G (Ground Floor) [+ Upload PDF]
├── F1 (Upper Floor 1) [+ Upload PDF]
├── F2 (Upper Floor 2) [+ Upload PDF]
└── T (Terrace) [+ Upload PDF]

Click the large "+" upload zone to lock that drawing to its exact floor. Every drawing knows exactly where it belongs.

4. Floor Selection Sidebar

On the right-hand side of the screen, a purple Floor Selection panel shows quick-jump anchors (B1 · G · F1 · F2 · T). Click any floor abbreviation to instantly scroll to that floor's upload zone — no matter how many categories and floors your project has.

5. Team Assignment

Floor-level assignment: Click Assign on any specific floor to assign a team member to just that floor's drawings.

Category-level assignment: Click "Assign Member to Entire Category" at the top of a category to assign someone to every floor within that category.

6. Bulk Actions

At the top right of each category, you will find:

  • Download All — instantly bundles all drawings in that category into a single download

  • Share All — shares the entire category with your client or team in one action

Your Project Is Now Live

Your team knows exactly where to upload. Your clients see exactly what they are looking at. No more misnamed folders, no more drawings in the wrong place, no more searching through WhatsApp for the latest version.

Every drawing is where it should be — and everyone on the project knows it.
