How to Build Your Architecture Portfolio and Catalog on Wallxy — Complete Guide

Summary

Wallxy's Catalog lets you create a professional interactive portfolio with PDF brochures, image galleries, and 3D models — shareable with one link, without sending a single zip file or WhatsApp PDF.

When a potential client asks "Can I see some of your previous work?" — the answer should not be a Google Drive link, a compressed zip file, or a PDF sent over WhatsApp that they cannot open on their phone.

Wallxy's Catalog feature gives every architect, interior designer, and construction professional a clean, professional digital portfolio — complete with an interactive PDF brochure viewer, an image gallery, 3D model support, and a single shareable link that works on any device.

Here is exactly how to build your catalog, from first entry to published portfolio.

What Is the Wallxy Catalog?

The Catalog is your public-facing professional portfolio inside Wallxy. Each catalog entry represents one past project, product, or service you want to showcase — with its own cover image, description, PDF brochure, image gallery, and 3D model.

Catalog entries can be:

  • Public — visible to everyone on the Wallxy Explore feed and searchable by potential clients

  • Private — visible only to you and shared via direct link

  • Draft — saved for later, not yet published

Your catalog lives permanently on your Wallxy profile and can be shared with any potential client at any time.

🏗️ Step 1 — Basic Details

To create a new catalog entry, go to your Catalog tab and click Upload New. The three-step wizard begins with your Basic Details.

Catalog Name (Required)

Enter the name of the project or product.

Rules:

  • Minimum 4 characters

  • Maximum 30 characters

  • Numbers are not allowed in catalog names

Example: "Modern Minimalist Villa" or "Premium Porcelain Tile"

Type of Catalog (Required)

Select the primary category from the dropdown. Categories are defined by your Wallxy admin settings and may include types such as:

  • Architecture

  • Interior

  • Landscape

  • Products

  • And others based on your account configuration

Catalog Subtype (Required)

After selecting the type, select the relevant subcategory from the second dropdown.

Example: If Type = Architecture → Subtype = Residential / Commercial / Institutional

Tags (Optional but Recommended)

Tags make your catalog searchable. Enter keywords separated by commas.

Rules:

  • Separate tags with commas

  • Numbers are not allowed in tags

Example: marble, luxury, contemporary, open plan

Suggested Tags: Based on the catalog type you select, Wallxy automatically shows a set of suggested tag chips — click any chip to add it to your tag list instantly without typing.

Description (Required)

Write a compelling description of the project or product.

Rules:

  • Minimum 50 characters — descriptions under 50 characters will not be accepted

  • Maximum 200 characters

  • A live character counter shows your current count as you type

Tip: Focus on the key design concept, the client brief, or what makes this project unique — not a generic description.

Visibility (Required)

Option

What It Means

Public

Visible in the Wallxy Explore feed and discoverable by potential clients

Private

Only visible to you — sharable via direct link

Draft

Saved but not published — work in progress

How visibility affects publishing: If you set visibility to Draft, the final step will only show "Save as Draft." If Public or Private, the final step shows both "Save as Draft" and "Publish."

Applications (Optional)

A comma-separated list of the use cases or professional applications this catalog item is relevant to.

Example: Interior Design, Architecture, Hospitality, BIM

This field helps clients and collaborators quickly understand where your work is applicable.

🖼️ Step 2 — Upload Files

Step 2 is where your catalog comes alive. Wallxy supports four types of media uploads for each catalog entry.

Cover Image (Required)

The hero image — the first thing a client sees when they find your catalog.

Specifications:

  • Format: JPG or PNG only

  • Maximum file size: 5MB

  • Recommended dimensions: 1200×1200px

Upload a clean, high-quality render or photograph. This image appears as the thumbnail across the Explore feed, your profile, and anywhere your catalog is shared.

Click the upload zone to browse, or drag and drop directly onto it. A preview appears immediately. Click the ✕ button to replace it.

Catalog PDF (Required)

Upload a full project brochure, presentation deck, product specification sheet, or floor plan packet as a PDF.

Specifications:

  • Format: PDF only

  • Maximum file size: 10MB

What makes this powerful: Wallxy automatically generates an interactive in-browser PDF viewer — clients can flip through up to 15 pages of your brochure directly inside the app, without downloading anything or needing any PDF software.

While uploading, a live preview of your PDF renders inside the upload zone so you can verify the file before publishing.

Catalog Images (Required)

Upload multiple high-resolution photographs or renders showcasing different angles, rooms, stages, or details of the project.

Specifications:

  • Formats: All standard image formats (JPG, PNG, WEBP, etc.)

  • Maximum: 10 images per catalog entry

  • Multiple selection: Select multiple images at once, or use Add More to add images in batches

Each uploaded image shows as a thumbnail preview grid. Click the ✕ on any image to remove it before publishing.

If you attempt to upload more than 10 images, Wallxy shows an error and prevents the upload — the existing 10 are retained.

3D Model (Optional)

Wallxy supports 3D model file uploads for catalog entries — allowing you to share interactive 3D content alongside your standard portfolio media.

Upload your 3D model file in the Model upload zone. This is particularly useful for:

  • Product designers sharing 3D product files

  • Architects sharing interactive building models

  • Interior designers sharing 3D room layouts

🚀 Step 3 — Review and Publish

The final step shows you a complete preview of your catalog entry — cover image, description, tags, and uploaded files — before you commit to publishing.

Two publishing options:

Button

What It Does

Save as Draft

Saves your entry privately — not visible to anyone, not published to Explore

Publish

Makes your entry live according to your visibility setting (Public or Private)

Once published, your catalog entry is immediately:

  • Live on your Wallxy profile

  • Discoverable on the Explore feed (if set to Public)

  • Shareable via a direct link to any client

How Clients Experience Your Catalog

When you share your catalog link with a potential client, here is what they see:

Cover image — full-width hero photograph or render

Project details — name, type, subtype, tags, and your description

Interactive PDF viewer — clients flip through your brochure page by page, directly in the browser, without downloading

Image gallery — all uploaded images in a clean grid with full-screen view

3D model — if uploaded, accessible for interactive viewing

Like and Save — visitors can like your catalog entry and save it to their own Wallxy collection for reference

Sharing Your Catalog

Every published catalog entry has a direct shareable URL. Share it via:

  • WhatsApp (as a link, not a file)

  • Email

  • Instagram bio or story link

  • LinkedIn message

The client opens one link and sees your complete professional portfolio for that project — no app download required, no file size issues, no PDF that does not open.

Tips for a High-Quality Wallxy Catalog

Cover image is everything. The cover image is the thumbnail across the entire Explore feed. A dark, blurry, or low-contrast image loses clients before they click. Invest in one excellent render or photograph per catalog entry.

Use suggested tags. The clickable suggested tag chips that appear when you select your catalog type are based on what clients actually search for. Use them.

Write the minimum 50 characters of description meaningfully. "A residential project in Mumbai" is not useful. "A 4,200 sqft luxury residence designed around a central courtyard with passive cross-ventilation and hand-cut Rajasthani stone" — is.

Upload the PDF even if it is simple. The interactive PDF viewer is one of the most impressive features of the Wallxy catalog experience. Even a 3-page presentation deck creates a far better client impression than no PDF at all.
